Humble Beginnings
As far back as I can remember I was always in the kitchen trying to cook, or helping others make meals for the family. I got a lot of my cooking skills from watching and learning from my Grandmother & Mother.
Experience Matters
I had been a stay at home mom until the age of 28. That was the year I moved to Booneville from Keokuk, IA.
I started working at Waukee Schools as a lunch clerk at the high school, and quickly proved my abilities, and became the head cook.
I worked there for 10 years, and was a bartender as a secondary job occasionally during that time, but I never wanted to stop there. It had been a dream of mine to open my own restaurant.

Achieving the Dream
I had been looking for places to open up my own restaurant since 2010, but everything I found was too overpriced, and did not fit my needs. That was when I stumbled upon this house in De Soto. All at once I knew it was "the spot". The place I had been looking for.
Hidden Gems
On the corner of Highway 169 and Spruce Street there was a house hidden behind overgrown bushes & trees. It really was a hidden gem. It had went on the market one day before I saw it. It was definitely meant to be! I made an offer, and soon after it became a done deal. Ambro's was ready to come to life.
Hard Work Pays Off
From the first day of reconstruction we did all the work ourselves, along with the help of friends who would help with projects here and there. On some days it was normal to work 18hrs a day just to come back and do it all over again. All of the hard work was worth it though when on Oct 29th, 2016 my dream came true. That was the day we officially opened the doors to Ambro's Roadhouse to the public.
Why Ambro's??
People ask "Where did you come up with the name, Ambro's Roadhouse?" When I was young. I was such a tomboy that my brother once told me. " You act more like my brother then my sister. I'm going to start calling you Ambro. Ever since then the name stuck.
The Best Is Yet To Come
I want to personally thank each and every one of you who visits Ambro's Roadhouse. We are a bar and grill that specializes in home cooked meals.
